This feature is a part of Complex's "Tumblr Generation" Week.

At age 20 David Karp built a company around the idea of making blogging easier, more elegant, and much much cooler. Six years later Tumblr has become a thriving community, consisting of more than 100 million blogs and 300 million active users who spend an estimated 24 billion minutes a month creating, curating, and consuming some of the edgiest content on the Internet. During that time Tumblr has profoundly shaped the way today's youth experience everything from music to photography, video, and cat memes online. Yahoo! was so impressed by the culture that's coalesced around Tumblr that on May 20 they announced a $1.1 billion deal to acquire the company from Karp, who will stay on as CEO for the next five years.

Long before this ten-figure transaction, Complex recognized Tumblr to be this generation's most important online creative engine. So we collaborated with Tumblr's 26-year-old founding CEO on a week filled with exclusive features about the Tumblr Generation, anchored by the digital cover you see above. Complex editor Damien Scott kicked it with Karp for an in-depth profile that was reported less than two weeks before the Yahoo! deal made headlines. Besides Karp, our Tumblr Generation lineup consists of hip-hop mastermind A$AP Yams, model Alysha Nett, Sean Sullivan of The Impossible Cool, and video artist Joe Hamilton, all of whom explained how Tumblr has helped them blaze their own trail through life. They were shot by a team of videographers in New York and Los Angeles that included Jonathan Lees, Justin Hogan, Jiro Kohl, and Mike Marasco. The footage was then edited and animated by Bill McMullen to create this scrolling digital cover/dashboard. You don't want to miss our David Karp cover story, and make sure you keep checking back all week for Complex's special report on The Tumblr Generation.
