We were pretty surprised when Avril Lavigne and Nickelback's Chad Kroeger announced their engagement last August. They kept their six-month relationship so quiet that no one even knew they were dating. Of course, the Internet had a field day with this—Kroeger's the frontman of the world's most hated band and Lavigne's teen rebel-without-a-cause act stopped being cute around age 25.
Now, it seems they have wed in the South of France, or at least had their wedding reception even if they are "technically not married yet." "I want all the guests who come to have this once in a lifetime experience and I want everyone to say 'Wow!' and for it to be special for everyone, not just us," Lavigne said earlier this year.
Mike Heller, the CEO of the company that manages Lavigne, and wedding planner Mindy Weiss were both in attendance. The legal ceremony is supposedly taking place tomorrow. Lavigne has been married once before, to Sum 41's Deryck Whibley. They were divorced after three years, and then she dated...Brody Jenner? For two years! She started dating Kroeger after he worked on her fifth album.
