Steven Showers of Newbury Park, Calif. was faced with a decision. He could either remove the 14-foot, illuminated sign that reads "Romney's Racist Heart Dotcom. Save the GOP." from his front yard, or face 45 days in jail. Showers erected the sign last August and has kept it up, even after Mitt Romney lost the 2012 presidential election.

Showers, 60, says his issue with Romney is his Mormon beliefs.  "I was stunned to find out that the Mormon religion is a white supremacist, anti-black, racist ideology," he said last year. Neighbors understandably loathe the sign and Showers was ordered by a Ventura County Superior Court judge to remove it by 5 p.m. yesterday or face jail time after being convicted of eight misdemeanor code violations.

The stubborn Showers, who represented himself in court, said that it was his First Amendment right to display the sign. We'll update when we learn which decision he made.
