According to a new report from The Wrap, Will Smith is in talks to star in a remake of the 1969 Western The Wild Bunch. Which reminds us - everyone remember when Smith starring in Wild, Wild West? Remember the rap? Never forget.
Anyway, back on topic: Whereas the original film was set in 1913 and followed a group of aging outlaws who look for one last big score as the "traditional" landscape of the American West changes before their eyes, the reboot that Smith is in talks for would take place in present day, and follow a "disgraced D.E.A. agent" who assembles a team to "go after a Mexican drug lord and his fortune." Uh, yeah, we're not sure if they actually know what's going on in Mexico with the drug cartels, but it's all a little more complicated than that. But OK, Hollywood.
So far, the film is still looking to cast a writer and a director, in addition, of course, to the entire cast. The project has apparently been in development for years - most recently, Oscar winner Brian Helgeland was working with Tony Scott on the project, and he wrote about half the script before Scott sadly passed away last year.
