After slipping out of police custody, Bryan Zuniga ran into an alligator—a far more intimidating opponent. After escaping from police during a traffic stop, the 20-year-old Zuniga tried to hide behind a Tampa water treatment plant. He managed to evade officers, but not an angry alligator who damaged his arms and face so badly that he had to be hospitalized.
Deputies finally caught up with Zuniga after being informed that a man matching his description was taken to the hospital because of an animal attack. He tried to lie about the nature of his injuries, but came clean when sheriff's deputies arrived. He had been through enough at that point, what would be the point in lying?
After being released from the hospital, he was charged with driving with a suspended or revoked license, resisting an officer without violence and fleeing and eluding.
