Tumblr's Recently Laid Off Editors Just Missed Out On $371,000 from the Yahoo Deal

Ouch.

None

All 178 of Tumblr's employees will be seeing a big payday from the $1.1 billion deal the company made with Yahoo this week. This is good news for all Tumblr employees—well, those who were able to keep their jobs up until the deal was made.

In April, Tumblr laid off three of its editorial team members who ran the company's Storyboard project. If the three editors hadn't been fired, they would have got the minimum amount a Tumblr employee with stock options would have received: $371,000. Tumblr's first 30 employees will be getting a cool $3.3 million, and its first 10 will be getting an average $6.6 million.

Talk about tough luck.
