There Are Easier Ways to Quit Smoking Than Going to Jail

Ways that don't add to your criminal record.

None

One woman, who stretched the limits of logic, came up with a moronic way to quit smoking: slap a cop, get arrested, go to jail where she won't be able to smoke. Last week, Etta Mae Lopez gave Sacramento County Sheriff's Deputy Matt Campoy an open hand to the face at a facility in Sacramento, CA. When Campoy escorted her inside of the jail, she slapped him again for good measure.

After being taken into custody, the 31-year-old Lopez revealed her plan. She pleaded no contest to charges of battery on a police officer and was sentenced to 63 days in jail. In addition, she received five days for violating probation stemming from a 2010 drunk-driving incident.

There are easier ways to quit smoking than slapping a cop to spend two months in jail where you're forced to go cold turkey, but some people really need tough love.
