As if a graphic, nine-minute rape scene weren't enough to put Irreversible in the Controversial Film Hall of Fame, there's also an unflinching and all-too-realistic scene in which the boyfriend (Albert DuPontel) of the rape victim flattens the face of the man he believes attacked her with a fire extinguisher in a crowded Parisian nightclub. But it's the wrong man. Does Hallmark make a card for that?
