Spike Lee has found his next project, according to The Wrap: Gold, a '90s gold-mining film that was originally set to be directed by Michael Mann.
Set in 1993, Gold is based on the true story of the Bre-X Mineral Corporation mining scandal. It follows a "rough-around-the-edges prospector" who manages to discover in the Indonesian jungle "one of the largest gold mines in the world."
The project is still in the early stages, so casting hasn't yet begun, but production with Lee on board as director is expected to begin some time before the end of the year. The script was written by Friday Night Lights writers Patrick Massett and John Zinman.
