Seamless and GrubHub might join forces, according to sources close to TechCrunch. Neither company would comment on the matter, but TC says the rumor is serious.

As luck would have it, the companies have plenty in common. They've both been around for awhile—Seamless since 1999, and GrubHub since 2004—and have respectable reach. Seamless is said to operate in over 12,000 restaurants, while GrubHub has more than 18,000 restaurant partners. Also, both companies are worth a pretty penny and have made successful acquisitions in the past. GrubHub was reportedly looking to go public last fall.

For these reasons, TC says this is a match made in heaven, though a deal is sure to rock the online marketplace.
