Today in "this is the worst idea ever" news: The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that accomplished, respected British director Joe Wright is the front-runner to direct the upcoming film adaptation of E.L. James' badly written erotic novel Fifty Shades of Grey. Say it with us now:
Seriously, Joe Wright? You directed films based off of classic literature like Pride & Prejudice, Atonement, and Anna Karenina! How much money are they offering you?
Reportedly, there is no deal officially in place yet, but "sources" assure that Wright is the front-runner because of his directorial style and his past successes. Can we just point out that Fifty Shades of Grey was originally a Twilight fanfiction that just so happened to get published? Who jumps from directing a Jane Austen novel to...well, that?
