Danish director Lars Von Trier isn't interested in mild reactions, and the images from his latest movie, entitled Nymphomaniac, have been nothing but loaded. For instance, the still below:
That's Charlotte Gainsbourg, star of the director's last two films, Antichrist and Melancholia. She plays the titular nymphomaniac. The film, which will be released in two parts, won't be screened at Cannes, as it wasn't finished in time. (There's also the fact that he was banned from the prestigious festival for a bit, after joking about Hitler during a Cannes press conference two years ago.) The film's website suggests that a trailer will be available on May 16.
As always, we await von Trier's next project with queasy excitement.
