Microsoft Announces Xbox One Will be Region Locked

It's like Microsoft is having a contest to see how pissed they can make consumers.

None

In an announcement that should come as a surprise to no one, Microsoft has announced that the Xbox One will be region locked.

This shouldn't come as much of a shocker when you also consider the Xbox One being non-backwards compatible, but it seems like Microsoft is just really going out of their way to marginalize their core consumers.

"Similar to the movie and music industry, games must meet country-specific regulatory guidelines before they are cleared for sale," said Microsoft. "We will continue to work with our partners to follow these guidelines with Xbox One."

We can't understand Microsoft's embrace of the same model used by the film industry, ask the film industry how that model has worked out for them. The PS3 wasn't region locked and it seemed to work out just fine for Sony. Of course, this is Microsoft we're talking about and this could all change tomorrow.
