"Iron Man 3" Would've Been Even Better with a Home Depot Sex Tape Broadcast

Just so happens to be a scene cut from the first draft.

Iron Man 3 just had the second-biggest opening weekend ever. In the history of movies. Considering it made over about $679 million worldwide, that means a crap-ton of eye balls have seen it, most of them probably being little kids who will buy the hero's action figures. Which is why it was probably a safe bet to cut the sex tape scene that existed in the first draft.

"Wait, what?!"

Let's rewind that for you: During an Empire magazine podcast, the film's director Shane Black and Drew Pearce discussed what fell on the cutting room floor. They named a few villains like Madden and Edwin Cord, but that turned into "blah, blah, blah" after this admission from Black, which sounds like the stuff fanfiction is made of:

“Pepper [Potts] (Gwyneth Paltrow), in one draft, slept with [Aldrich] Killian (Guy Pearce) because he was so pheromonially enhanced with this extremis that she couldn’t resist him and she was angry with Tony and so she sleeps with Killian and then he makes a sex tape and broadcasts it in Home Depot.”

Why Home Depot? Kinky fetish? The possibility of angry Tony Stark tool puns? The most creative product placement ever? Who knows. Honestly, we're slightly disappointed that what would've been an instant-classic moment in cinema never made it, but hey, gotta keep it together for the kids.
