And RDJr. was in the biggest, too.

Iron Man 3 was expected to do well (duh), but as Sunday winds down, the movie has had the second-biggest opening weekend of all time. The three-day domestic gross for this weekend is expected to be about $175.5 million, which makes the total $680 million worldwide (so far).

The biggest domestic opening weekend ever was The Avengers, with $207 million, and it ended up making over $1 billion globally. Iron Man 3 has gotten decent reviews, but pretty much everyone praised Robert Downey Jr.'s performance as Tony Stark. He's funny, he's charming, but he also has a heart.

Plus, Most Beautiful/Most Hated woman Gwyneth Paltrow actually gets to do something this time other than worry about Tony, though Pepper Potts isn't nearly as likable a character as the titular Iron Man, but it's pretty hard to beat RDJr. in the charm department.

Downey Jr. and Paltrow were both reported to be negotiating contacts to keep the franchise going, and (non spoiler) the end of the movie promises that "Tony Stark will return." Honestly, we hope so. He's one of the most entertaining superheroes around.
