Yesterday afternoon, a 5-year-old boy in Cumberland County, Kentucky shot and killed his 2-year-old sister with a .22 rifle that he received as a gift. Cumberland County Coroner Gary White says the rifle, which was typically kept in a corner of the home, was left loaded. White said that the shooting will be ruled accidental, adding that it's "Just one of those crazy accidents.”
These "crazy accidents" have occurred with an alarming frequency over the past month. In early April, a woman in Tennessee was shot and killed by a 4-year-old at her husband's cookout and a 6-year-old was fatally shot by his 4-year-old neighbor in Toms River, NJ.
