Even if you don't know who Saul Bass is, chances are you've seen his work at some point - during his 40-year career in Hollywood, Bass created some of the most iconic posters and opening title sequences in film history for legendary directors like Alfred Hitchcock, Otto Preminger, Stanley Kubrick, and Martin Scorsese - Vertigo, Anatomy of a Murder, Psycho, and The Seven Year Itch were all Bass.

Though Bass passed away in 1996, his legacy still lives on through his work. Today, May 8, would have been his 93rd birthday. If you haven't yet seen Google's 81-second doodle tribute to the late great, you should definitely check that out - before that, though, take a look at these 10 GIFs of his most well-known title sequences to commemorate the event, courtesy of user nitratediva on Tumblr
