Yesterday, fire swept across 8,000 acres of Ventura County, posing a dangerous threat to some 2,000 homes and forcing hundreds of people to evacuate. The fire commanded the attention of hundreds of firefighters, as it made its way toward the coast throughout the duration of the day. Additional stress was placed on firefighters, as strong winds prevented firefighting planes from assisting. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported yet in Ventura County.

Multiple fires that spanned 3,000 acres damaged the Inland Empire as property was destroyed and firefighters were injured. It's believed that one of the fires may have been the result of a cigarette that someone simply tossed away.

According to officials, the fire was 10 percent contained as of yesterday evening.
