Now that the web page music.twitter.com has gone live—with a #music hashtag and sign-in button to boot—everyone's wondering whether this will be the weekend the service launches. It would certainly make sense if so, since Coachalla music festival kicks off tomorrow and #music will likely be trending online.
According to The Verge, who broke the story, "the sign-in button leads to an authorization request for an app called "Trending Music Web," which Stephen Phillips, founder of We Are Hunted — the music service Twitter just acquired — has recently been tweeting songs from." Those tweets are linked to SoundCloud and Rdio, the third-party services that could form the backbone of Twitter Music.
