Former The Walking Dead showrunner Glen Mazzara is in talks to write The Shining prequel movie, The Overlook Hotel, Deadline is reporting. Judging from the title, the prequel will be focusing on the going-ons at the hotel before the Torrances arrive in Stephen King's novel. Who's ready for some backstory about those creepy twins?

Mazzara is, of course, fresh off of The Walking Dead - he left the AMC series at the end of the third season, and though the network called the split 'amicable,' there have been many reports that he clashed with the show's graphic novel creator Robert Kirkman. Zombies aren't quite the same as ghosts, but this is an interesting choice for the project.

This news comes in addition to the news that King has completed his sequel to The Shining, which is titled Doctor Sleep and follows Danny Torrance's adult life after losing his father and leaving the Overlook Hotel. Who wants to host a marathon? Throw in the Room 237 documentary too.
