Sony has announced this morning that a full-length Ratchet and Clank film is in the works with a slated 2015 release.
While this is completely out of the ether, it's welcome news. The Ratchet and Clank series would be a perfect property to adapt for a theatrical release. The combination of science fiction, classic cartoon slapstick, and nostalgia for the franchise should make this a hit for Sony.
T.J. Fixman, the writer behind the games, will be penning the script and the film is being produced by Blockade Entertainment and Rainmaker Entertainment. Insomniac will also be playing a “hands-on role with the film’s production, screenplay, character development, and animation consulting.”
Sounds like all the pieces are in the right places. We're looking forward to seeing what happens on this project. Would you watch a Ratchet and Clank movie? Let us know.
