Following the tragic news of Buckwild cast member Shain Gandee's death earlier this month, MTV has reportedly made the decision to cancel the reality series mid-production. Initially, filming was just halted, but according to Deadline, network execs couldn't see any way to continue the show without Gandee. Enough footage for several episodes has apparently already been filmed, but it may just air as a Buckwild special rather than as a second season.

Gandee was found dead in West Virginia earlier this month after a truck he was in with his uncle and another passenger became submerged in mud - the coronor ruled his death the result of carbon monoxide poisioning. He was 21.
