The city of Los Angeles will shell out $4.2 million to the two women who were mistakenly shot at during the hunt for Christopher Dorner. In February, LAPD officers searching for the rogue ex-police officer opened fire on a pickup truck being driven by Margie Carranza and her mother, Emma Hernandez. The women were delivering newspapers early in the morning.

The 47-year-old Carranza was injured by broken glass and her 71-year-old mother was shot twice as police fired at least 100 bullets at their vehicle. In March, a $40,000 settlement was reached which covered the expense of a new vehicle. That was far from appropriate considering the amount of suffering these women experienced.

Yesterday, city attorney Carmen Trutanich and attorney Glen Jonas announced that the women will split the money evenly to cover legal fees, medical expenses and "emotional damage."
