Mojang studio founder and Minecraft creator Markus "Notch" Persson is in second place for Time's most influential person of 2013.

Time Magazine's list of 100 people that have most influenced the world is being decided by readers casting their votes online. Editors of the magazine will make the final decision next week and this could be a massive watershed moment for gaming. While most people can point at Minecraft as more addicting than a heroin margarita, the game has been a godsend for creators and amateur artists/builders.

We've seen everything from Star Wars to Jurassic Park faithfully recreated in Minecraft. Hell, there's a school in Sweden that wants to teach Minecraft as a course to teach students about the environment and urban planning. We think that all of this is pretty damn impressive, especially when you consider that Notch is on the same list as David Bowie and President Obama. What are your thoughts? Think Notch is going to be the most influential person in the world? Let us know.
