Jason Segel Wrote a Young Adult Book Series

Don't worry, they're not about vampires.

In celebrities-making-random-career-moves news today, VH1 is reporting that Jason Segel has written a series of young adult novels based on the first script he ever sold, and he plans on releasing them later this year.

"It’s about kids facing their biggest fears, that’s about all I can tell you," Segel said of the project at a Q&A at the Jacob Burns Film Center in Pleasantville, New York after a screening of his 2008 film, Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Apparently, he sold the original script for "super cheap" because he "didn’t know any better" back then, but he was able to buy it back for the same price eight years later because no one realized it was him who wrote it. "As I got more successful I kept hoping they wouldn’t realize I was the same Jason Segel as the Jason Segel they bought the script from," he joked.

Silence of the Lambs director Jonathan Demme, who was also present at the Q&A, reportedly said that the project is the subject of a "bidding war" between publishing houses.
