Ask HBO what it thinks about your pirating habits and you might get a surprising answer.

According to Entertainment Weekly, that's exactly what happened when HBO programming president Michael Lombardo was asked if he's down with Game of Thrones being the most pirated show on TV.

“I probably shouldn’t be saying this, but it is a compliment of sorts,” Lombardo told EW. “The demand is there. And it certainly didn’t negatively impact the DVD sales. [Piracy is] something that comes along with having a wildly successful show on a subscription network.”

Game of Thrones, which is now in its third season, premiered this past Sunday. It's the network's top earner and ranked as the most illegally downloaded TV series for 2012.
