Former US president Bill Clinton finally joined Twitter on Wednesday, securing the handle @BillClinton

Stephen Colbert famously convinced him to tweet under @PrezBillyJeff on "The Colbert Report" weeks ago, but this verified account will be the forty-second president's main page.

So far, Clinton has tweeted about taking Twitter lessons from his daughter Chelsea, who boasts over 100,000 followers on her @ChelseaClinton account, and his work with Clinton Foundation, a humanitarian organization he founded after leaving the White House in 2001. As his bio points out, he's a do-gooder first, and former president second.

Excited to join @chelseaclinton and my good friend @stephenathome on Twitter!
I taught @billclinton to tweet! This is almost as exciting as the time I taught Cheney "Dance Dance Revolution."

Clinton might be the second living president on Twitter, but he has a long way to go before he catches up to President Barack Obama, who has 30 million followers.

Will you follow the former president? Let us know in the comments.
