The Disney company owes a lot to a ginger who wears shells as a bra. The Little Mermaid kicked off Disney's second coming (known as The Disney Renaissance), and made the mouse relevant again. Probably because the woman couldn't talk!
Despite not having a voice, Ariel, the little mermaid herself, voyages away from the only place she's ever known to find love. There's nothing more heroic than that. She's so confident that she doesn't even question the seagull that gives her suspect advice, like the using a fork as a comb bit. —Tara Aquino
