Director: Wes Anderson
Stars: George Clooney, Meryl Streep, Jason Schwartzman, Bill Murray, Willem Dafoe, Owen Wilson

Wes Anderson has always made cartoons, but in 2009 he made his first animated cartoons with his adaptation of Roald Dahl's children's novel of the same name. The result was a disarmingly deadpan and odd tale of a fox (voiced by the golden George Clooney) who gets his kicks by stealing from three awful farmers named Bean, Boggis, Bunce.

The stop-motion animation is perfectly suited for Anderson's obsessive style, where everything is symmetrical and the jokes are so dry they wheeze dust. Bonus points for putting the Bobby Fuller Four's immortally jubilant "Let Her Dance" on the soundtrack. —RS
