In-tweet branded videos are coming, says BBC America who shared the news this morning via Twitter. The broadcaster has partnered with Twitter to launch the series, which will start with "Doctor Who" and "Top Gear."

Clearly, Twitter is looking to move beyond its current status as a microblogging platform. This week, it debuted Twitter #music, and the video-sharing service Vine was bought earlier this year. Debuting a standalone app using network TV might just offer more mainstream appeal.
