Smart move.

AT&T is keen to improve the voice quality on its phones, and the best way to do that is by routing voice calling over its LTE network.

In fact, that's exactly what the company plans to do, said Senior VP Kris Rinne, who revealed the plans during VentureBeat's mobile summit in Sausalito on Monday.

“HD Voice is part of our voice over LTE strategy,” he said, before adding that dropped calls and other issues are water under the bridge at this point. “I think we’ve taken that off the table in terms of a competitive challenge."

Consumers can look out for the improved voice calling later this year.
