Amazon is expanding AutoRip to include not just CDs, but vinyl.

AutoRip launched in January as a way to give Amazon customers free MP3 versions of CDs purchased in its Music Store. Now vinyl fans can do the exact same thing—that is, buy a record and receive free digital copies of those tracks, which are stored in Amazon's Cloud Player. Any track in the library can be played on iOS, Android, and even the Kindle Fire.

“We’re thrilled to extend this experience to vinyl records,” Steve Boom, Vice President of Digital Music for Amazon, said in a release this morning. ”Many of our music customers are vinyl fans and it’s traditionally been very difficult to make digital versions of vinyl records—now customers can enjoy the albums they buy wherever they are, not just when they have access to a record player.”
