You know what's worse than a con artist? Two stupid con artists. Carol Lee Leazer-Hardman and Michael Condor, who both work at the Dollar Tree in Draper, UT, were arrested for trying to swindle money out of Smith's Food Store by claiming that they discovered razor blades inside donuts purchased there.
They even tried to make their story seem more authentic by eating some of the donuts themselves, and shared a donut with a co-worker who suffered cuts to her mouth, but luckily managed to avoid swallowing any blades.
According to police, hospital X-Rays revealed fingernail-sized to thumb-sized razor blades inside of their stomachs. Police say that Leazer-Hardman, 39, and Condor, 35, phoned emergency services and told them that they had found sharp pieces of metal inside of a donut from the store.Though the store didn't trust the claim, they still removed all donuts from shelves just to be safe.
Police noticed holes in their stories and leaned on Condor until he confessed to the scheme, which DraperPolice Sgt. Chad Carpenter says was to cover personal debts. Both were charged with aggravated assault and suspicion of filing a false police report.
