The University of Central Florida has cancelled classes through noon today after weapons and explosives were found in a dorm room earlier this morning. Though the school has determined that there is no immediate threat, roughly 500 students were evacuated and a parking lot near the dorm was closed.

Campus police were summoned to the Tower 1 dorm around 12:20 a.m. after a fire alarm went off, and received another call about a man with a gun while en route to the scene. When they arrived at the dorm, they found a man dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police also found a handgun, an assault weapon and explosives inside of the residence. The Orange County Sheriff's Office and FBI are aiding the investigation, and the sheriff's bomb squad examined the explosives this morning.

University officials have not revealed whether or not the deceased man was a student.
