The Number of NYC Residents on Food Stamps Has More Than Doubled Under Bloomberg Administration

Compare the numbers over the past decade.

Yesterday, the Independent Budget Office of New York released information detailing the number of NYC residents on income support under the Bloomberg administration. It gets no realer (or more depressing) than this:

In 2012, city residents were given $3.4 billion in food stamps, $2.9 billion in supplemental security income and $1.4 billion in public assistance. Take a look at the second graph to see the comparison to 2002 and prepare to have you mind blown, especially when it comes to food stamps.
