The Key Club Will Close Next Week

Say it ain't so...

After creating a respected reputation across various musical genres, the Key Club will close its doors on March 15. Yesterday, Operations Manager Ian Shepp issued a statement (second image) saying the the venue will close for good next Friday. Shepp mentioned that a new venue will occupy the Key Club's space in the coming months, but lightning rarely strikes twice.

Since its birth, artists ranging from Pennywise to Kanye West, the Roots and T.I. have all rocked the Key Club stage. It closed for a brief period in 2009, but refashioned itself as a pay-to-play venue the following year. Last year, we listed it as one of the 100 coolest places of the Complex decade.

The Sunset Strip won't be the same without it.
