Compromised Page: Blood libel
Year: 2011

After the tragic shooting in Tuscon, Arizon in 2011, Sarah Palin made a formal statement in which she blamed journalists for "manufacturing a blood libel that serves only to incite the very hatred and violence they purport to condemn." Yes, in the wake of a horrific mass shooting, the former Republican vice presidential candidate accused journalists of accusing Jewish people of murdering their children in order to use their blood in religious rituals. Not only did the news media, many Jewish advocacy groups, and other politicians go in on the governor-turned-personality, someone decided to post her photo under the "Antisemitism" banner on the blood libel Wikipedia page. To be fair, we don't believe Palin knew what blood libel meant, so we don't think she's an anti-Semite. But wow. Just wow.
