It took me nearly 12 hours but I’m finally here. After a canceled flight in Newark, a train ride to Baltimore, and a bumpy flight to Texas, Complex has finally landed in Austin for SXSW Interactive 2013. And because we live in an age where our feelings are best expressed via social media, I relied on Twitter to convey the frustrations of my day-long journey from New York City to the Lone Star State.

My flight to Austin was supposed to leave from Newark at noon. It's now 5:34 and I'm just getting on the plane ... IN BALTIMORE

Michael Thomsen’s words come to mind: “It is never enough to have an experience for its own sake, we must always keep some space in the back of our mind for what an experience might mean to someone else.” And it’s true. The influence of social media, and its subtle effects on daily communication, will be one of the many talking points over the course of the next five days.

Not long after I posted my tweet, Complex’s intrepid Associate Editor Ross Scarano reminded me that, regardless of how arduous the voyage may seem, there is always a silver lining.

@nonlinearnotes Yeah, but...breakfast tacos.

All that said, expect daily updates on start-ups, app announcements, and company unveils during our time in Austin. Remember to check in daily—and we promise to keep you apprised on the whole breakfast taco situation.
