Chris Rock has detailed the importance of the big piece of chicken, but the last piece of chicken is just as important to some. Perhaps believing that he was entitled to it, a Pacolet, SC man took his desire for the last piece of chicken entirely too far.
44-year-old Clifford Smith was arrested and charged with simple assault and vandalism for choking a wheelchair-bound woman out for eating the last piece of chicken during a dinner. The police report states that Smith and others were dining on Sunday when the unidentified woman grabbed the final piece of chicken and began devouring it.
Smith, who desperately wanted the remaining piece of chicken for himself, exploded into a rage. After screaming that he wanted the last piece, he reportedly hit the woman, then smashed a beer bottle against the wall. Then, finally, he wrapped his hands around her neck and began choking her.
The woman attempted to call 911 on her cell phone, but witnesses say Smith took it and spiked it on the ground, shattering it. Another witness phoned police and Smith was arrested. It's possible that he had other, more stressful matters on his mind, but his reaction is unacceptable.
