Robert Redford has mostly been focused on his Sundance empire for the past few years, but, according to Deadline, that may be changing soon. The actor is in talks to join the cast of Marvel's upcoming Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which is set for release in 2014.

The film will, of course, see the return of Chris Evans as the titular superhero. Redford is in talks to portray a "senior leadership role" in the S.H.I.E.L.D. organization, but no specifics as to who exactly he'd be are given.

It'd be a very strange role choice for Redford should he join the film, considering he's been sticking to indie films - fun fact, though, he did almost portray Superman in 1978's Superman - but we can't say we're complaining. However, we have to ask: Does this mean it would premiere at the Sundance Film Festival? Captain America: The artsiest superhero in the land.
