Queen Elizabeth II was hospitalized this weekend for a bout of gastroenteritis. She's 86, though, so no hospital visit should be taken lightly. The queen started feeling sick on Friday night and was taken to King Edward VII Hospital in London yesterday.

"She was not taken into the hospital immediately after feeling the symptoms. This is simply to enable doctors to better assess her." said a palace spokesman.

Heirs Prince William and Kate Middleton were in the Swiss Alps this weekend for a friend's wedding. Queen Elizabeth was taken to the same hospital where the duchess went for extreme morning sickness in December.

The palace says the queen will be fine, though she'll stay in the hospital for two days. She is usually in good health; her last hospitalization was 10 years ago for knee surgery. Queen Elizabeth was supposed to go on an official visit to Rome this week, but that will have to be postponed.
