Veniamin Balika was out for that cheese. The 34-year-old Balika was busted at a rest stop on the New Jersey Turnpike trying to sell 21 tons of Muenster cheese that he stole from a cheese company in Wisconsin. That's 42,000 pounds of cheese worth an estimated $200,000.
The goods were stolen from Pasture Pride Cheese, and Balika's paperwork and costume reportedly appeared so authentic that it even had the company's owner fooled. "He came in with the proper paperwork," said owner Kevin Everheart.
According to Everheart, his insurance company will determine what to do with the cheese. He mentioned that he would consider donating it to charity if it passed health inspections in New Jersey. Balika was released on bail Wednesday.
