The Peabody Awards are known for reflecting the excellence in media and the quality of projects as opposed to their commercial success, so it's a pretty big deal that Lena Dunham just won one for her HBO series Girls. According to NYC Prowler, the winners were recently announced, and Dunham is in good company: Louis C.K. won an award for Louie, NPR for their coverage of the conflict in Syria, and HBO for Game Change. Get it, girl.
From the announcement of the winners: "Creator/star Lena Dunham’s singular, decidedly unglamorous take on sex and the single girl and the city reverberates with anxiety, angst, insight and rueful humor." Like that time Hannah hooked up with a 19-year-old guy in an upstate New York graveyard and it lasted about eight seconds before he finished in her thigh crease? They're probably talking about that time.
