Shopping Express hits San Francisco.

Google's new same day delivery service has finally arrived, but unless you're in the Bay Area, you probably won't get a chance to try it anytime soon.

For the next six months, anyone living in the city of San Francisco, and the Peninsula from San Mateo to San Jose, can apply to participate in Google's six-month long trial

The program, called Shopping Express, has partnered with the likes of Target, Walgreens, Staples and American Eagle to offer free, unlimited same-day delivery. And as TechCrunch explains, Google, who indexes the partners' available products, site will function as a one-stop shop, where consumers make a purchase then schedule a time for delivery.

Clearly, Google's out to eat Amazon's lunch with this program, but there's no word yet on whether the search giant will undercut Prime with a cheaper subscription.
