Earlier this week, Feast (102 3rd Ave) opened in the East Village. Marketed as a "concept restaurant," Feast offers two different "feasts" at dinner time: the Union Square Greenmarket feast and the nose-to-tail feast. The former changes as the seasons do, while the latter features a selection of animals. Patrons sit around communal tables made out of reclaimed wood, and the restaurant is adorned with decorations like picture frames and hay pulleys.
There's a $48 Mighty Lamb Feast, which includes potato gratin, lamb lasagna, lamb carpaccio and "shepherd's pie." There's also the $38 USQ Farmer's Market Feast, which features spaghetti squash with mushroom bolognese and roasted cauliflower with hazelnuts and grapes, and a smoked goat cheese tart with forest mushrooms.
The restaurant opens 7:30 a.m. and closes at 11 p.m. Monday through Wednesday,1 a.m. Thursday through Saturday and at 4 p.m. on Sunday. Weekend brunch could arrive next month with lunch following not too long after.
