Facebook Is Ready to Enter the Mobile Market

"More than just an app."

After years of speculation, the Facebook phone is finally happening.

9 to 5 Google's Mark Gurman reports the social network is "hooking up with HTC" to help with hardware and has spent the last couple weeks working on an ad campaign in Southern California.

The ads will focus on the user and not the hardware, Gurman says, with one of the taglines being that the device is "more than just an app."

In terms of hardware, the phone will be "a forked version of Android," says Gurman, that's somehow "reminiscent of the iPhone," with a home button at the bottom center and "horizontal function keys on the right and left side." It will even be the same size as the iPhone 5, with a fairly beveled design.

For more on the phone, including a shot of what it actually looks like, check out Mark Gurman's report.
