According to the NYPD, a crew of robbers attempted to steal $100,000 worth of beer.  DNAinfo says that the a security guard and a party of five were arrested in the Bronx after late-night inventories at a warehouse seemed strange. The bosses soon noticed that things would typically go missing on nights when 52-year-old Charles Dandrea was working, indicating that he was involved.

Here' are more details from the Great Beer Heist:

The security director then alerted the 41st Precinct, which set up a surveillance post on Feb. 23. Sure enough, a U-Haul van rolled up to the warehouse about 1:15 a.m. Sunday Feb. 24 and the pack of thieves set about stocking it with beer, Rivera said.

Police say that on six different nights between November 2012 and February of this year, the gang made off with thousands of dollars worth of beer and other non-alcoholic beverages. They almost got away with it, too. Well, not really.
