An Officer and a Gentleman (1982)
Stars: Debra Winger, Richard Gere
We could go into the twists of the plot, the social dynamics of factory workers fraternizing with Naval officers, and the Oscar-winning performance by Louis Gossett, Jr., but all that matters is the final image (above). It's worth noting that Richard Gere, who plays protagonist Zack, was officially the handsomest man on the planet in 1982. Zack attends his graduation from Officer Candidate School, then rides his motorcycle to the factory where his girlfriend Paula works. Still wearing his dress whites, he sweeps her off her feet and whisks her away to happily ever after. It's a fairy-tale ending that puts most actual fairy tales to shame.
