Although the Internet and DVR allow for the skipping of ads, there will always be that one inescapable marketing ploy: product placement. Instead of featuring the product in a separate commercial, the product gets integrated into the narrative of a TV show or film. Meant to be seamless, a character will suddenly sip from a familiar brand of drink or tinker with a well-known device.

Displaying the product to the movie’s audience while the studio gets paid, product placement is a win-win for both the filmmakers and the sponsors.
