Apparently not everyone is happy that director J.J. Abrams has signed on for the new Star Wars movie. William Shatner, of course, played the original Captain Kirk, so it is obviously something near and dear to his heart.

Shatner says he does like Abrams, and that "he's probably the most talented director of that ilk that we have." Still, he thinks the Star Trek director is being greedy. "He's being a pig...he's gone too far this time."

It is fair to worry that Abrams might be taking on too much; on the other hand, he did an amazing job rebooting Star Trek. Doesn't that make him an obvious choice for Star Wars? Shatner says he got to know Abrams over a few sushi dinners during the production of Star Trek because he was asked to give insight on the Star Trek universe.

"He's collecting the two franchises and holding them close to his vest," Shatner said. That may be true, but would he accuse Steven Spielberg of the same, or even George Lucas himself? We kind of doubt it.
